April Mason
April Mason, Dean, attended the Overseas School of Rome in Rome, Italy before going on to receive her Bachelor's degree in biology from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. Her graduate degrees are a Master's in Plant Physiology and a Ph.D. in Foods and Nutrition from Purdue University. As a faculty member in the department of foods and nutrition at Purdue University, April conducted research in the area of trace mineral availability from foods and taught in the Cooperative Extension program at Purdue University for 20 years. April held administrative posts during those years. She was the Associate Dean for Extension and the Associate Dean for Discovery and Engagement in the College of Consumer and Family Sciences. In 2004, she joined Colorado State University and serves as the Dean for the College of Applied Human Sciences. As Dean, April oversees the operations of six departments and two schools.

Dave Carpenter's Bio

Dave Carpenter attended Colorado State for both undergraduate and graduate school. He received his Bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine in 2001, and his Master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems in 2005. Dave has worked in a number of IT-related positions for the College since he joined the College in 1999, and most recently, Dave accepted the position of Director of IT for the College in 2007. He currently oversees all facets of CAHS information and instructional technology, is responsible for setting I&IT objectives for the College, and serves as the primary advisor to the Dean concerning University I&IT issues.

Aaron Darnell's Bio

Aaron Darnell is currently an undergraduate seeking a Computer Science degree from the College of Natural Sciences. Since 2004, Aaron has worked with the College Helpdesk and also held a leadership position within that team. In 2007, Aaron accepted the position of IT Coordinator for Faculty/Staff Computing, and is responsible for coordinating computing for the College's faculty and staff, including managing the College's Helpdesk and its employees, as well as coordinating IT-related purchasing for the College.

Dale DeVoe's Bio

Dale DeVoe has worked at Colorado State since 1990. He received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts in Physical Education-Teacher Education, a Master's in Physical Education-Teaching and Administration from Springfield College, and in 1987 received his Ph.D. in Health, Physical Education and Recreation-Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New Mexico. Dale has taught in the Department of Health and Exercise Science since he began his career at Colorado State. In 1993, he became the Assistant Department Head in Health and Exercise Science and in 2006, he became the Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the College of Applied Human Sciences. As Associate Dean, he oversees undergraduate admission policies, recruitment and retention, and enrollment management. Dale also serves as a liaison to the Provost's Office regarding academic policy, curriculum, and student issues.

Jennifer Garvey received a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems from Fort Lewis College in 2001. After receiving her degree, she worked as a web and application developer for Lore International Institute located in Durango, Colorado. Jen joined us in 2007 from CSU's Business and Financial Services department where she had worked as an application programmer since 2002. Jen oversees web development and all associated services for the College, including management of all CAHS websites and web servers, as well as all CAHS Student Web Developers.

Gretchen Gerding's Bio

In 1991, Gretchen Gerding received her Bachelor's degree in Government/International Studies and German from the University of Notre Dame. Gretchen then went on to earn a Master's in German Language and Literature from the University of Minnesota in 1995. After completing a Fulbright abroad in Vienna, she worked at the Tucson Children's Museum as the Development Coordinator until 1999. Gretchen's first position at Colorado State was the Assistant Coordinator of International Education in the Office of International Programs. In 2000, she joined the College of Applied Human Sciences as the Special Events Coordinator and currently serves as an Assistant to the Dean. She oversees the scholarship process, commencement, College awards, and the College newsletter.

Jean Lehmann's Bio

Jean Lehmann holds a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt, a Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation from the University of Wisconsin- Stout, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. She has been a faculty member in the School of Education since 1988. As a faculty member, she taught in the Educational Leadership graduate program and in the Educator Licensure program. She has been the principal investigator on 23 state and federally funded research, evaluation, and training projects addressing issues of self determination, transition-related educator preparation, and models for increasing the post secondary success of students with disabilities. She served as the School's Graduate Programs Director for four years and as Interim Director of the School of Education before becoming Associate Dean for Research in 2006. Jean is responsible for facilitating the growth and development of research in the College. She is an active adviser of doctoral students and a winner of the University Jack E. Cermak Outstanding Advisor Award for excellence in advising.

Tom Mazzarisi's Bio

Tom Mazzarisi has worked for Colorado State since 1993. In the 20 years before coming to Colorado, Tom worked in various administrative positions in New Jersey ranging from social services to a medical school. He received a Bachelor's degree in History and a Master's in Public Administration from Rutgers Graduate School. He has almost three decades of experience in administration and operations. As Business Manager for the College of Applied Human Sciences, Tom is responsible for budgeting, personnel, facilities and grant management for all eight departments and the Dean's office.

Stephanie Ouren's Bio

Stephanie Ouren received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Accounting in 1984 from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. She has worked with non-profit organizations and universities ever since. Stephanie worked as a research coordinator in the Atmospheric Science Department at Colorado State University from 1988-1996 and returned to the university and Fort Collins in 2005 to join the College of Applied Human Sciences. As the Research Support Services Coordinator, she facilitates finding funding potentials for faculty as well as guiding grant submission throughout the college.

Nina Simmers Rogers' Bio

Nina Simmers Rogers is an alumna of CSU, with an undergraduate degree in Sociology/Anthropology. She has a Certified Paralegal degree as a graduate of Villanova University, with additional study at Idaho State University in Counselor-Ed Special Ed and Harvard Law School's summer program for legal professionals. Nina joined the staff of CSU in 1998 following a career as a social worker focusing on child protection and then for almost ten years as an administrator with IBM. She has previous campus experience in administrative support with Sponsored Programs, Dean's Office for the College of Agricultural Sciences, working with Greek Life, Off-Campus Student Services and Campus Activities before joining the Dean's office staff in 2007, where she is currently an Assistant to the Dean.

Travis Sharpe received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from the College of Business at Colorado State in 2003 and his Master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems in 2006. He worked for the IT Group in various capacities throughout his undergraduate work and currently serves as the IT Coordinator for Application Development in the College. Travis is responsible for the creation, development, and management of a number of CAHS systems and applications.

Lori Sims came to Colorado State in 2001 and joined the College of Applied Human Sciences as Director of Development in 2006 after serving as the Associate Director of Development for the College of Agricultural Sciences. After graduating from Minnesota State University with a degree in communications, Lori worked in development for private education for the better part of her career. She has experience in helping donors make annual and major gifts, as well as in promoting non-profit organizations through communication, marketing and special events. Lori oversees fundraising for all six departments and two schools in the College.

Malinda Sloan, a CSU alumna - with a B.A. in History and a B.S. in Social Work - came to the College of Applied Human Sciences in 2001, after working for several different companies in Fort Collins. She serves as the front office receptionist, as well as supporting the curriculum committee, commencement, and the Gerontology Interdisciplinary Studies Program. She is also responsible for new student correspondence, central filing, telephones, and internship contracts. She manages the Dean's Office work study students and is the Building Proctor for Gibbons Building. Malinda also works with the Dean's Leadership Council.

Eric Tisdale's Bio

Eric Tisdale graduated from the College of Business at Colorado State University in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Economics. He worked with the College's IT Group for several years as a Helpdesk Specialist and served as the IT Representative for the department of Occupational Therapy. He is currently the IT Coordinator for Student Computing and is responsible for the management of the College's computer labs, as well as all associated systems, services, and personnel.

Joan Trussell's Bio

Joan Trussell is the assistant to the Business Manager and has worked for CSU in state classified employment since 1987, having started in parking management and working her way up to her current position. Joan is responsible for the following areas that serve the entire college: student hires and payroll, coordinating the logistics of major searches, and providing direct support in financial procedures to staff in the eight college departments. Joan also does desk top publishing, special events and development support, and development publications and mailings. She is the CIS and Oracle expert and support person, orders supplies, chairs the Dean's Team meetings, and takes care of travel arrangements. Joan received the University's Classified Personnel Outstanding Achievement Award for 2002-03.
