Major: Construction Management
Colorado State University's Construction Management Department is one of the top-ranked programs in the country. The program's focus is on the integration of innovative management systems and other technologies into the construction process. A construction management major requires its students to take a variety of courses not only in constructional science and construction management, but also in areas of business, engineering, and the humanities. With a degree in construction management, students will have the ability to enter into careers such as construction management, project planning, work for government agencies, or various types of engineering.
Major: Apparel & Merchandising
Within the major of apparel and merchandising there are two different concentrations, both of which focus on comprehensive knowledge of global industry practices and policies and the ability to demonstrate, integrate and apply knowledge to real-world situations in the apparel and textile industries.
- Apparel Design and Production - This curriculum focuses on apparel design, production, and marketing strategies to enable students to develop skills needed within the industry. Students are given many opportunities to learn outside of the classroom with assessments and fashion shows. With the gained knowledge, students will be ready to take on such careers as apparel or fabric designers, patternmakers, or many more.

- Merchandising - This branch of merchandising focuses on the process of planning, negotiating, acquiring, selling, and evaluating merchandise at either the wholesale level or at the retail level. In addition to classroom learning, students will have the opportunity to attend seminars, learn computer operated management strategies, and gain knowledge from experiencing real situations within the field. With a degree in merchandising, one can become a buyer, a visual merchandiser, or enter into many other exciting careers.

Major: Interior Design
Colorado State University's Interior Design program prepares its students through education, experience, and examination in order to enhance the profession of interior design. Students learn the entirety of the design process, beginning with the assessment of client needs, development of alternative design solutions, development of design intent, selection of furniture and finish material, construction documents, and contract administration. With the knowledge gained through this major, students will be able to become an interior designer for residential and/or commercial spaces.
Major: Nutrition & Food Science
The nutrition and food science major involves integration of the biological, medical, and social sciences and their applications to the improvement of human nutrition and fitness and improved overall quality of life.
- Dietetics - This concentration provides a broad background in clinical nutrition, health promotion, and food service management. Dietetics is a science-based curriculum, and the program meets all American Dietetic Association (ADA) requirements. With training in dietetics, one will have the knowledge to work in such fields as the food industry or nursing programs.

- Food Safety and Nutrition - The food safety and nutrition option blends a strong science base with courses in nutrition, food science, food safety, and food microbiology. Students in the option are encouraged to participate in the interdisciplinary studies program in food science/safety to further their understanding. This curriculum prepares students for jobs such as food inspector, food plant manager, or for a graduate program.

- Nutrition and Fitness - Nutrition and fitness is a concentration which has a strong science base along with work in physical activity, nutrition, teaching, and counseling. This option prepares students for employment as nutrition and fitness counselors in establishments such as health/fitness clubs, public health settings, or private practice.

- Nutritional Sciences - Along with the other concentrations, the nutritional sciences option has a strong science base. This option provides a good background in natural and biomedical sciences and nutrition. Nutritional sciences can form a good basis for a pre-medical professional program. Students in this concentration will have the ability the work in a place such as a health care facility or continue on to graduate/professional school.

Major: Restaurant & Resort Management
This major combines food service, lodging, business, and elective course work, plus a work experience requirement to provide students with an excellent restaurant and resort management background. Unlike other nutrition majors, restaurant and resort management puts a strong emphasis on business that is combined with course work in nutrition and tourism. Knowledge gained from this major will enable students to enter this field as a hotel, resort, or restaurant manager.
Major: Health and Exercise Science
The major of health and exercise science provides students with practical knowledge and skills in the areas of stress/fitness testing, leadership, customer service, and professionalism through laboratory and/or practicum and internship experiences. Students will learn what is required to successfully compete for employment or a graduate/professional school placement. There are two concentrations with the major of health and exercise science:
- Health Promotion - A concentration in health promotion provides content and experience in promoting positive health behaviors. Aside from the various different kinds of in classroom knowledge that students will be exposed to, they will also have opportunities for several practical field experiences. With this knowledge students will have the ability to seek jobs such as health promotion specialists and personal trainers.

- Sports Medicine - The sports medicine option is a pre-professional program that offers a strong science based education, dealing specifically with the application of the natural sciences to the study of health and exercise. This option prepares students for various graduate studies and a wide variety of medical professions.

Major: Human Development and Family Studies
Human development and family studies is a major focusing on the interdisciplinary study of the development of individuals and families across the lifespan. Students learn to identify factors influencing cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development across oneâs lifetime. There are many opportunities for students to experience elective courses, course work, and a series of prescribed experimental learning courses. The following four bullets are career interest areas within the human development and family studies major.

Master of Science Program
The Master of Science in occupational therapy serves professional and post-professional students. This program involves a two-track graduate program for students depending on whether they have a bachelorâs degree in occupational therapy or in another area. A masterâs degree in occupational therapy allows one the opportunity to work for community agencies, private practices, universities, or other employers.
Teacher Licensure
Teacher education programs at Colorado State University serve the needs of individuals preparing to teach in most secondary areas, K-12 art or music, or early childhood education. Colorado State is currently the only public institution in Colorado designated to offer programs leading towards a career and technical credential. Students who wish to become candidates for teacher licensure must be skilled in a teaching concentration and proficient in educational methodology. These candidates take their professional education course work concurrently while completing their subject matter courses. Those who complete the teacher licensure process will have the ability to become administrators or various types of teachers.
The school of education also offers Masterâs and Ph.D. degrees.
Major: Social Work
The social work curriculum focuses on the practical application of social work principles, policies, and practices within systems and social justice perspectives. Students acquire a professional social work foundation transferable to different settings, population groups, and problem areas. Training in social work allows students to work as probation or parole officers, school social workers, or various types of counselors.
Major: Family & Consumer Sciences
This unique interdepartmental program is designed to prepare professionals who are dedicated to enhancing the well-being of individuals and families and the communities and environment in which they serve for various fulfilling careers.
- Family and Consumer Sciences Education - A concentration in education directly addresses the needs of youth, families, and consumers and helps prepare individuals for a career as a secondary education teacher in family and consumer sciences. Teachers of family and consumer sciences impact the lives of individuals, the health of families, and the welfare of society.

- Family and Consumer Sciences-General - The family and consumer sciences concentration provides students with a focus on consumer and family well being, growth and development of family members, and the relationship of households to their environment. This interdisciplinary learning experience transfers into careers such as Consumer Information Specialist and Cooperative Extension Economist.
