We will be offering four one credit graduate modules on social responsibility in the global supply chain fall semester 2008. The four-week online modules that will be taught are:
- AM 504 Apparel Worker-Centric Social Responsibility (September 8- October 3, 2008)
Examines the rights of workers. Explores obstacles in meeting and methods for assuring worker rights, including freedom of association. Consideration is given to how to effectively engage with workers.
- AM 506 Culture & Work in the Apparel Industry (November 3 - December 5, 2008)
Cultural characteristics, employment/work practices and social responsibility; practices that reflect the effects of culture on
business practices.
- AM 508 Environmentally Responsible Apparel Production (October 31, 2008)
Examines environmentally responsible apparel production and practices as philosophy, process, and competitive business strategy. Analyzes sustainable production in the context of a business's physical plant, materials, and resource use.
- AM 509 Corporate Culture for Socially Responsible Apparel (November 3 - December 5, 2008)
Importance of leadership, the role of inspirational leadership, and the opportunities for making a difference will be explored, analyzed and applied.
